Description: We began this lesson by learning about snowflakes and how they are all unique. We then learned how to cut out designs of snowflakes and even got creative roam to make one of our own. We had to copy two designs and then make one of our own. We then opened the snowflakes up and glued them onto our blue construction paper. We let those snowflakes dry and listened to a story about snowflakes. After the snowflakes had dried we then glued a design on our own snowflake. Once we finished with the glue, we sprinkled salt over the top. We then dumped the remaining salt into the garbage and revealed our unique snowflake. We got to paint our snowflake with watercolor, and I chose blue and purple. To end this activity, we grabbed a notecard and wrote three unique things we saw on our peers snowflakes.
Extension Activity: For an extension activity, I could have students learn about the different types of snowflakes. I would do this lesson during the winter months so there is a possibility for snow. That way students can get a feel for the snow and take a better look examining the snowflakes.
